K-12 Counseling Program |
K-12 School Counselor: Elementary, Middle, and High Schools. They are the S.A.P. team members on site at every school. Call the school for an appointment. Counselors meet with students individually or in small groups, lead classroom guidance lessons, and are available to staff and parents for support and to link them to the district and/or community resources. |

CHEMICAL |
Desert Sands policies require any student who receives an alcohol or other drug suspension to participate in the Student Assistance Insight program. Students and families meet with SAP staff individually to develop an action plan to build better choices and direction in their lives. Students participate in the Insight Education Program and parents are informed if a referral to a formal assessment and/or drug testing available in the community is appropriate. |

CONFLICT
Awareness
|
SAP helps individual students, families with any problems associated with conflict like anger management, bully/victim/bystander dynamics, fighting, or on-going family conflicts that impacts school. SAP Plan could include assessment, intervention plan, educational support group, and/or conflict mediation services. |

Insight educational groups are designed to offer alcohol and other drug or conflict education, anger management intervention, decision making, and support for positive changes. |

Basic Understanding of Teens and Tobacco |
Helps students become aware of problems associated with tobacco and/or how to quit using tobacco. Referrals to cessation programs are available for youth and adults. |

P.R.I.C.E. Basic Parenting Workshops |
Skills taught include limit setting, positive and negative consequences, and communication skills to promote balanced parenting. |
Series of four two-hour evening sessions.

Strengthening Families Workshops |
The workshops bring together middle school students and their families for a shared meal and discussions on ways to improve relationships with each other and with their peers and teachers. The goal is to motivate change that meets each family’s goals. |
