Board of Education
Members of the Board of Education are residents and taxpayers in our community. The legal requirement for an individual seeking to become a Board member is that he or she be registered to vote within the boundaries of the Desert Sands Unified School District.
The Board employs a Superintendent of Schools who is the Chief Executive Officer of the District. The Superintendent is also the Secretary to the Board of Education, and prepares the Board's agenda as well as maintains its records and files.
The Board meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Boardroom of the District Education Center, 47-950 Dune Palms Road, La Quinta, California, unless otherwise posted. Special Board of Education meetings may also be scheduled to address issues as they arise.
The Board agenda and the minutes from the previous meeting are posted at the District office 72 hours prior to the Board meeting, and at each school site the day before the meeting. Agendas are also provided to all local newspapers for publication. The Board agenda/Minutes and Highlights are also published to the Web.
Desert Sands currently has their board policies, administrative regulations and exhibits as part of the GAMUT Online system through CSBA (California School Board Association). GAMUT Online works with Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher or Netscape 6.0 or higher. The public is encouraged to access the district's policies using this service with the account and password information listed below.

Junta de Educación
Los miembros de la Junta de Educación son residentes y contribuyentes de impuestos de nuestra comunidad. El requisito legar para un individuo que desee ser un miembro de la Junta es que esté registrado para votar dentro de los límites geográficos del Distrito Escolar Unificado Desert Sands.
La Junta emplea al Superintendente de las Escuelas quien es el Oficial Mandatario Ejecutivo del Distrito. El Superintendente también es el Secretario de la Junta de Educación, y prepara la agenda de la Junta como también mantiene registros y archivos.
La Junta se reúne el primer y tercer martes de cada mes a las 7:00 p.m. en la Sala de Conferencias del Centro Educativo del Distrito, 47-950 Dune Palms Road, La Quinta, California, a menos que haya un aviso sobre un cambio. Reuniones Especiales de la Junta de Educación también pueden ser planeadas para tratar asuntos que puedan surgir.
La agenda y las actas de la Junta de la reunión previa están a la vista del público en la oficina del Distrito 72 horas antes de la reunión de la Junta, y en cada escuela un día antes que se reúna la Junta.
